Seven Great Demon Lords

The Seven Great Demon Lords (七大魔王) are a group of Demon Lord Digimon who each represent one of the Seven Deadly Sins.

The Seven Great Demon Lords are listed here in order of ascending Purgatory Level. This ordering is a reference to "the levels/terraces of purgatory" mentioned in the epic poem, La Divina Commedia by Dante Alighieri. In the poem, each level represented a different one of the seven deadly sins and presented ways to atone for each sin. As a person progressed, they would eventually make it to the top of the "Mountain of Purgatory", reaching Paradise.

The Seven Great Demon Lords' Purgatory Levels are the following:

Pride -- Purgatory Level: ONE_

Governed by the Demon Lord Lucemon Falldown Mode, who is the leader of the Seven Great Demon Lords.

Envy -- Purgatory Level: TWO_

Governed by the Demon Lord Leviamon.

Wrath -- Purgatory Level: THREE_

Governed by the Demon Lord Daemon.

Sloth -- Purgatory Level: FOUR_

Governed by the Demon Lord Belphemon Rage Mode.

Greed -- Purgatory Level: FIVE_

Governed by the Demon Lord Barbamon... who is said to be challenging Lucemon's position as leader of the Great Demon Lords.

Gluttony -- Purgatory Level: SIX_

Governed by the Demon Lord Beelzebumon.

Lust -- Purgatory Level: SEVEN_

Governed by the Demon Lord Lilithmon.

It is said the lords are able to communicate with anyone using one of their Digimentals. Of special note is that the user and Digimon gain the ability to increase the strength of whatever sin they represent, corrupting things and people around them as true demon lords should.

The current Great Demon Lords are incarnations of the original ones that walked the Digital World, but it was the original Lords' Essences that created the Sin Digimentals.
